Tega Cay is a residential lake community as well as a township of under 8000 residents.  A short drive down I-77 south and just over the South Carolina line, Tega Cay along with Fort Mill are considered suburbs of Charlotte, within a 20-25 minute drive via the interstate.    Rock Hill, SC is five miles to the south.

A planned community,  Tega Cay is located on a peninsula on Lake Wylie and the name “Tega Cay” is Polynesian for “Beautiful Peninsula.”  Lake Wylie is Duke Energy’s second largest area lake and Tega Cay claims 13 miles of Lake Wylie shoreline.

A combination of older existing and often updated homes match up well against Tega Cay’s newer Lakeshore subdivision which also wraps around the 27 hole Tega Cay gold Club.   Recreation and sports are a huge draw to this family friendly community.   A drive through Tega Cay will easily show the miles of community walking trials, the baseball and soccer fields, three city owned parks, waterfront beaches and three boat launches.  The Tega Cay Marina is located at the very end of the peninsula.

Townhomes, single family, newer construction and water front homes dot the real estate map.  The average Tega Cay home price for June 2014 hovered just under $299,000.  The average income per household exceeded $106,000 annually and of course the schools serving the Tega Cay town and communities are noted as some of the state’s best.

Neighborhoods include Lake Shore, Anchorage, Serenity Point, Lake Ridge at Tega Cay, Heron Harbor, Meadowview and Tega Cay.
